Outreach
As we study the Word of God and grow in our relationship with Him, we see Matthew 22:38-40 revealing our "neighbor" all around us. As we seek to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, we recognize our neighbors' needs and seek to love them as ourselves.
In reaching out to serve others, we give our disciples the opportunity to put into action the truths they are learning. Those in our home lead a weekly discipleship group for local youth. They share a devotion, lead an activity and share a nourishing snack to fill the youth's minds, bodies and souls. Larry leads a Discipleship Group each week for those who wish to go deeper into the Word and apply it to our lives. We help our neighbors in their fields to lend another hand to the constant work. We have built a house for a paraplegic friend of ours and his wife and three children. We have built a latrine for a single mother with six children, whose last partner was abusive. We have replaced a roof on a house for a former pastor friend whose wife is terminally ill with diabetes and high blood pressure. We are also involved with the local schools, tutoring students in and outside of the classroom. We are members of the water board for our community and volunteer as we are able with special projects and activities. We also often provide transportation to the hospital for sick neighbors.
As we are aware of needs in our community, we respond as God leads us and allows us with human or financial resources.
We are also involved witih Agua Viva (www.aguavivaonline.com), an organization that installs two gravity-fed water systems each year in southern Honduras in villages where there is no reliable or clean water source. Larry, Joel and others from our Campus join the team from the US to show a practical and spiritual provision of God for the least of us there.
